Shoreham by Sea is a really friendly area that has something for everyone!
Feeling active?
Enjoy a variety of watersports including swimming, kayaking, jet-skiing & paddleboarding or why not volunteer to crew on one of the many yachts at The Yacht Club or The Harbour Club, both in walking distance
Bike hire is available outside The Waterside Pub, and there's a children's playground just beyond the pub as well. You can cycle along the riverside path by the side of the river Adur starting from the Ropetackle Arts Centre to the Old wooden toll bridge and memorial. The Downs link track will take you further north into the countryside.
Nature lover?
Shoreham Beach is a designated Nature Reserve and a nature-lover's paradise; take a scenic walk along the beautiful coastline to explore the diverse wildlife & habitats of the nature reserve. Its a great place for birdwatching & peaceful nature walks
The iconic Adur Ferry Bridge for walkers & cyclists only runs from Shoreham Beach into Shoreham Town, cutting off about 1.5 miles vs the main road route & offering a great experience in itself. The glass sides of the footbridge allow for sensational views of the River Adur with its numerous boats and birds including grebes, gulls and waders. A large and quirky collection of houseboats are situated along the river side of Shoreham beach, converted from barges, tugs and even an old minesweeper, many are inhabited by local writers, artists and craftspeople.
The entrance to the South Downs National Park is only 2.4 miles away too, opening up a diverse and breathtaking landscape with over 2,000 miles of rights of way for nature lovers, walkers, horseriders & cyclists alike!
Food & Drink
Leave the car at home & take a 5 minute stroll along along the accessible beach boardwalk to The Harbour Club , where we are members, for drinks, a meal, a sports event or just to watch the world go by! This area also boasts a sandy beach so don't forget the buckets & spades for the kids to play with in the sand while you sip on a chilled glass of wine!
Shoreham Beach has a number of casual eateries & takeaways on Ferry Road (10-15 minute walk) including an ice cream parlour, pizzeria, excellent fish & chip shop & bakery, as well as 2 newsagents & The Waterside Pub, right on the water's edge
Alternatively a 15 minute walk to the picturesque pedestrian footbridge, takes you into Shoreham Town, with a wide variety of excellent pubs, bars, & restaurants to choose from. We'll be happy to share our personal recommendations with you!

Ropetackle Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural hub that hosts a range of performances including live music, theatre productions, comedy shows & art exhibitions. Check the schedule during your stay for an entertaining night out!
Visit Marlipins Museum, the oldest secular building in Britain, to learn about the town's rich history & maritime heritage with interesting artefacts, photographs & stories that showcase the area's past
Historical Shoreham Fort, dating back to 1857, is just a short beach walk from Seaside Place, Shoreham
Nearby Shoreham Airport is the oldest operating airport in the UK with an art deco terminal building, which you may recognise from a number of classic films! The museum takes you back over 100 years to 1910 and the pioneering days of aviation & airport tours are available for just £5 per person!
While it no longer operates commercial flights, you can even take to the air with a private charter or a helicopter / light aircroft sightseeing or experince flight ... or take your turn at the controls in the Flight Simulator! It’s also a great place just to sit and watch the small aircraft flying in and out while enjoying the fabulous views towards Lancing College and perhaps a lovely lunch or cream tea overlooking the runway at The Hummingbird Restaurant
Brighton, Hove & Worthing
Fancy visiting one of the larger seaside towns on the Sussex coast, just 15-30 minutes' drive from Shoreham Place?
- Brighton, is a welcoming & diverse city which boasts an eclectic mix of modern culture, exotic architecture, sea & countryside. From the Royal Pavilion to The Lanes, the i360 to Brighton Pier you can expect family-friendly attractions, live music & plentiful entertainment on the beach & around the city.
- Hove - or "Hove Actually" as its known locally - is a mile or so closer to Shoreham, just along the seafront & home to quieter parks, squares & gardens as well as a large number of independent shops, boutiques, specialty stores & all manner of eateries!
- Worthing, around 6 miles to the west of Shoreham, is one of the biggest seaside towns in Sussex, renowned for award-winning beaches & family fun as well as being a lively destination for shopping, eating & entertainment
